Just another weblog

thoughts on audio

we were talking yesterday after Eva suggested getting performing arts students to record readings of key critical texts. We then though that these could be made available as downloads, short passages from key texts, made available under categories and themes.

This then led on to ways in which this could be improved, such as adding the text in a podcast, and augmenting the bare text with visual codes or colour to highlight key terms and important passages. Motion graphics could play a part in this too, so long as the typography was appropriate and consideration given to effective design and layout.

Issues were to do with copyright of texts, educational use, the ease of reading on screen.

Perhaps augmented passages available to download, print and annotate as student listens to audio? This would enable student to print in preferred font size and style.
